Lighter sinkers help the rig pass through weeds or grass. A Carolina rig works with egg sinkers up to 3 or 4 ounces. Carolina Rigs are Sliding Sinker Rigs created specifically as bass fishing rigs with a weedless hook and a soft plastic worm. Note that the Leader is going to be your biggest limiting factor. Learn about different types of fishing rigs before your next fishing adventure. You want the absolutly heaviest bottom set up you possibly can use at your level. Only then did i experience my first High Tension escape. The best set up is a rod stand full of bottom rods and another in your hands (that's going to be between 2 and 5 rods, depending on your level). I did continue fishing with my higher gear with longer rod, stronger drag and more line weight. Testing "small hook on strong line, Big hook on weak line".ect I havn't been online for some time now but am pretty sure after breaking the cheap rod I thought suitable for Muddwater in the previous test. See if the high tension is related to the Lure/hook size or if its the line test/reel/pole. Maybe if i lower the line test it wont happen. Since i have been having similar issues with 12lbs test on a 12.5 drag reel.
